Internet Safety & Netiquette

  1. Computer - Electronic device for storing and processing data.
  2. Data - Is another word for Information. Data (Information) can be text and/or numbers, examples of data: names, dates, places, addresses, phone numbers and pictures.
  3. CPU - Central Processing Unit, this is the main part of the computer where the processing takes place. The brain of the computer.
  4. Internet -  When Computers are connected with wires, cables, or satellites that provide wireless  connection to share information & data. The Internet is a global word that is uppercase all the time a proper noun.
  5. URL - A web address or Uniform Resource Locator. Web Address
  6. Resources - Internet Websites, Internet Pages
  7. E-mail - messages sent by electronic means from one computer or device user to one or more recipients via a network. (Electronic Mail)
  8. Icons are small pictures or images that give the computer/device a command like to open programs. Thumbnails Small images
  9. Folders -  are used to organize  data, files, presentations, programs, other folders. It is an empty shell container like a real folder.
  10. Google Drive - File storage by Google allows users to store files, docs, pictures (data)
  11. Computer Hard Drive is the C: Drive -  Storage Place for Data, files, pictures on the computer you are sitting at where the Desktop & Library Documents Pictures are located.
  12. Upload or Downloading Digital Files- transferring files, pictures, games etc. from one computer to another.
Flash Drive -  Stores Data (information) a way to move more data from one computer to another it is a portable drive. DVD's & CD's  Store data and move it from Computer to computer. Portable Drives.


  1. Network Computers connect to each other to share data. The Internet is a large network computers around the world connected to share.

  2. Server - A server is a computer that provides data to other computers on a network. A server provides a service to other computers on a network.

  3. Cloud Drive  - Web based service for Storing Data, files, pictures on a remote server.

  4.  Acceptable Use Policy BCS -  Agreement of conditions and rules regarding use of technology devices, computers and online Internet resources.

  5. Netiquette -   Internet and etiquette Online Computer manners appropriate use.

  6. Plagiarism - Plagiarism is taking someone else's work, words, graphics, or sounds and presenting it as your own. It is considered cheating and stealing. Copying and pasting sentences and paragraphs from the Internet as your own words is plagiarism.
